Signs Your Pharmaceutical Job Interview Went Well

When you’re looking for a new pharmaceutical job through a temp agency in New Brunswick, NJ, or on your own, gauging the success of an interview isn’t always easy. In many cases, the hiring manager can’t simply say whether you’re a top contender, even if they would like that option. Instead, they have to stay mum initially.

However, that doesn’t mean you can’t determine if your pharmaceutical job interview went well. You can get a decent picture of how the hiring manager views you by looking for certain clues and signals. Here are some signs to look for during the meeting if you want to figure out what kind of impression you left.

Positive Comments and Body Language

How the hiring manager responds to you can give you insights into your performance. Often, the most obvious ones are positive comments. Noting that they find your skills or accomplishments impressive or mentioning that it seems like you have just what they’re looking for based on your resume are signs that things are going in your direction.

However, you might not always get the benefit of a direct comment. Fortunately, even subtler signals can speak volumes. For instance, nodding as you speak is a positive sign, indicating agreement and engagement. Smiling during the interview is another great indicator and leading slightly toward you during the meeting.

Going Over Time

If your interview runs past its allotted time, that’s generally an excellent sign. Generally speaking, a hiring manager isn’t going to spend any extra time with a candidate that doesn’t pique their interest. As a result, if they choose to give you 15 minutes beyond what was scheduled, there’s a good chance that they’re invested.

Now, this doesn’t mean an interview ending on time is inherently a bad sign. If a hiring manager is pressed for time or has back-to-back meetings, they’ll likely ensure that the interview ends at the proper moment even if they’d like to get to know you better to ensure they don’t disrupt the flow of their day.

Introducing You to Others

If a hiring manager takes a moment to introduce you to the team or other company leaders, that’s an incredibly positive sign. As with going over time, making introductions isn’t something they’ll likely do if they aren’t envisioning you as a potential new hire. While it isn’t a guarantee that a job offer is coming your way, it’s usually a clear indication that your performance was strong.

Getting the Sales Pitch

When a hiring manager thinks they have a great candidate in front of them, they’ll want to keep you engaged and invested in the opportunity. One way to do that is to spend time “selling” you on the job. They’ll dedicate part of the meeting to extolling the company’s virtues, discussing the most exciting elements of the role, and outlining how the organization supports its employees.

The reason they touch on those points is to try to convince you that accepting the job is the right move. It’s a way to prep you for the idea if they can’t make the offer right now. Essentially, if you get the pitch, there’s a good chance they’re interested.
